Haveneiland – IJburg

The masterplan for Haveneiland was designed by Frits van Dongen (then de Architekten Cie.) together with Ton Schaap and Felix Claus. It was intended to be a highly dense, urban part of IJburg with a mixed programme divided across the island. Based upon Amsterdam’s traditional superblocks, a rigid block grid with rectangular infill was superimposed on a more freeform island. Exceptions were made for defining elements like solids, parks and harbours. Among the highlights shown below are Blok 46c by Korth Tielens Architecten, IJburgcollege by LIAG Architecten and “Het Eindpunt” (Eng: The Final Destination) bij Hans Oudendorp.
